Joshua Tree Proposal and Engagement Photography | AA

A + A came to Joshua Tree as a New Years Day trip, but little did she know that her partner was planning on proposing to her! This Joshua Tree proposal was set up at Heart Rock and captured candidly without her knowing. Joshua Tree National Park is a beautiful place with many rock formations and Joshua trees, which also is an amazing spot for a proposal followed by engagement photography.

I was waiting around a large rock, where she couldn’t see me snapping photos as he grabbed the ring out of hiding.

Then he got down on one knee and proposed to her.

And of course she said yes!!

And here is their first kiss as a newly engaged couple and a perfect moment after their Joshua Tree engagement proposal.

One thing I love about this is the pure candid moment that was captured. They’re in hiking clothes for a winter hike in the desert. It’s just a beautiful moment.

Engagement Photos after the Proposal

Now normally we do an “engagement” session, where it’s before the wedding and after they had proposed (but are already planning the wedding and chose a wedding photographer). This is refreshing doing engagement photos right after a Joshua Tree proposal. She was still glowing after the proposal, and he was still a little shaky LOL.

We love the many rock formations (or geologic formations) the are spread around the east side of Joshua Tree National Park.

Sunset Engagement Photos in Joshua Tree

This proposal and engagement photography session was on January 1st, so it was a little chilly and there was more moisture in the air than during the summer. Out sunset was GORGEOUS! We got a good contrast of blue and orange to pinks and purples as the sun descended.

The silhouette of a Joshua Tree is very distinct and unique. We had to take advantage of that in our sunset photos.

Out in Joshua Tree National Park, there is hardly any cell reception, so it’s easy to mess up the capturing of a once in a lifetime moment.
