Romantic Laguna Beach Engagement Photography | Brittany & Kirk

Just like today… the weather in Laguna Beach hit about 95 degrees. What a goooorgeous day for a photo shoot; definitely one of my favorite engagement sessions in Laguna Beach!! I met Brittany and Kirk at Valerie & Addison’s wedding in San Clemente a couple years ago. Brittany is Valerie’s younger sister, also the maid of honor. It was a wonderful experience working with Val & Addison. And now… I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Brittany and Kirk!! I’m truly honored when previous clients refer me to their family and friends. I love doing multiple weddings/events for the same family and seeing all the familiar faces.
Brittany and Kirk met at an Angel’s game (through a mutual friend) back in 2006. They got along pretty well, but didn’t think much of anything since Kirk was about to leave for school at ASU. While being away, Kirk remained in contact with Brittany and they became friends. After a year of getting to know each other, Kirk couldn’t deny it anymore… Brittany stole his heart!! He needed to move back to California to finish college; and so he did!

With it being so hot lately, there’s no better place to do engagement photos than at the beach. I love my job!! I get to hang out with awesome couples and enjoy gorgeous sunsets with my hubby two to three times a week. Ahhhhh.. perks of being a photographer!! =) We started Brittany and Kirk’s engagement session at an open field. From there, we headed over to a nearby park with Kirk proposed to Brittany last year. And finally we ended with romantic sunset engagement photos at Laguna Beach. I’ll have to say it’s one of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve seen!! Some of the photos honestly looks unreal. Talega Golf Club Wedding Photography | Micah & Nick

They were on their way to dinner… just the two of them. But after driving through the beautiful vineyards during sunset for a while, Nick says, “I think we’re lost.” ”Oh Great!!” thought Micah. It’s nothing out of the ordinary for the two of them to get lost (especially traveling in a new place). Not long after that, Nick pulls the car over. ”We have a flat tire,” he said. This can’t possibly get any worse!! He got out, walked around to opened her door. ”What?? I don’t know how to change the tire.” Micah seemed confused. To her surprise, he pointed to the hills and showed her the “heart of trees.” And that is how Nick popped the question! So romantic!!

Micah and Nick’s wedding at Talega Golf Club was the first wedding of this year. And boy was it a great way to start off year 2013!! They had a beautiful ceremony facing an endless lawn of gorgeous greenery. And their reception… let’s just say it was quite a party!! The sheer energy and excitement of the wedding transcended into the night and many laughter filled the banquet hall. Cheers to Micah and Nick!!

Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Photography | Arezo & Kevin

It was a lovely day to stroll Griffith Park, hand-in-hand (and of course with their their babies by their side). He tenderly kisses her cheeks as she giggles and softly whispers, “I love you.”

Arezo and Kevin met in college… back in 2008 when they both were studying for their engineering degree. From being in class together, to study-dates, and then finding more excuses to be with each other… Arezo and Kevin soon found their friendship grew into something much more!!

Most of you know that Gavin and I use a lot of remote lighting, but there is definitely a time and place for natural light as well. =) We started Arezo and Kevin’s engagement session at Griffith Park and ended the engagement session in Downtown Los Angeles for some night photos. It was so much fun hanging out with them both and seeing their sweet interaction with each other. Kevin loooves to kiss and showers Arezo with affection. And as for Arezo… she naturally cradles perfectly into his arms. Her smiles gives it away that she is indeed madly in love with Kevin.

Hahaha. I love how Kevin is holding his dog. Already practicing for the real baby. **wink wink**

A change of outfit and now we’re at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the engagement session. I love doing Downtown Los Angeles engagement photography (especially at the Walt Disney Concert Hall). Casa Del Mar, Santa Monica Wedding Photography | B & W

It was just an ordinary Saturday in Manhattan Beach where Brianna & Weston met not by just chance alone but also by fate as well. Brianna didn’t feel like going out that night, but one of her girlfriends convinced her to go to Shades for a birthday party. ”I don’t really want to go…I mean, it’s not like my future husband will be at Shade,” Brianna said. Little did she know…

As she stood in line (waiting to get a bottle of champagne for the table) she started up a conversation with a tall and handsome guy in front of her. And what did they talk about?? What men love most… Football!! Brianna loves football. And Weston, he knew football; he actually played in college!! They talk about Tim Tebow, a football player from Bri’s college (University of Florida), who happened to be picked up by Weston’s favorite pro-football team (the Denver Broncos). They shared many laughs that night and Weston asked for Bri’s number!! And well… the rest is history!!

Picture this: A romantic wedding in a beautiful glass chapel, on a cliff, over-looking the Pacific Ocean! It’s every girl’s dream!! It was a beautiful sunny day when Brianna and Weston vowed their lives to each other in front of their family and friends at the gorgeous Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes.

After the wedding ceremony, we drove back to Casa Del Mar, Santa Monica where they hosted their wedding reception. Gavin and I looooove doing wedding photography at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica. This luxurious Hotel by the Sea is literally right on the beach and Santa Monica Pier is just minutes away. We were so stoked to get there just in time to catch the beautiful sunset.

Can I please get a “WOW.” heheehe =D

I absolutely LOVE that Brianna added a personal touch (and in honoring their guests) by having photo of her and/or Weston with each guests at the table!!

These guys don’t kid around!! They really know how to throw a party!! The dance floor was packed!

They also had karoke during the last hour of the reception. Brianna and Weston rocked it with “I Just Called to Say I Love You”

Palazzo Mansion, San Clemente Wedding Photography | Renee & Jon

From the initial phone call to our coffee meeting to the engagement session in Laguna Beach and now to their wedding day, Renee and Jon are an absolute joy to work with. They are such a charming and fun couple to be around and their wedding day was nothing short of that. And as one would say, “birds of a feather flock together.” It’s no wonder that their group of friends are amazing people as well. The sheer energy and excitement of the wedding definitely shines through with every smile!! Congratulations Renee & Jon. We couldn’t be happier for you and wish you nothing but the best!

We started the day bright and early at the hotel where the bridal party was hanging out.

There was not a dry eye in the room when Renee’s Grandpa started crying!! I can’t help but to cry myself.

While the bridesmaids help Renee change into her wedding dress, the boys hung out at the Mansion’s “man-cave” drinking at the bar and shooting pool.

What a great choice of wedding color!! Love the purple and grey!

Hotel Maya Wedding Photography | Joanna & Adrian

I love everything about this wedding… especially the Bride & Groom!! Joanna and Adrian are one of the sweetest couples you’ll ever meet! His selflessness makes him a heroic fireman and her kindness makes her a loving nurse. Just like how they give themselves to society, they also give themselves to the people that surrounds them. It’s no wonder that their beautiful wedding (at Hotel Maya) was a day filled with laughter, tears of joy, and a whole lot of love from friends and family!!

It was beautiful day here in Long Beach where Joanna and Adrian tied the knot!! There were lots of cute, fun and tender moments captures. Unfortunately, Gavin had another shoot on their wedding day. Our good friend Steve Hoffmann (of Hoffmann Photographer) was available and came along to second shoot for me. Thank you Steve Hoffmann, it’s always a pleasure working with you!!

While the girls were getting dolled up at Hotel Maya, Adrian and his boys were having waaaay too much fun at a nearby English Pub. A few pitchers of beer and shots after shots!! I KNOW it’s gonna be an awesome wedding. Steve Hoffman was with the boys in the morning and got some awesome pictures!! I absolutely love these…

Joanna’s dad was in the room when she was getting ready. This adorable flower girl had to cover his eyes while Joanna hops into her dress. Nobody asked her to do it, which made it so cute.

LOL! Priceless!!

After their wedding ceremony at St. Barts, we all headed over to Shoreline Village for more photos.

The girls did a great job picking Adrian (a strong fireman) up. The boys (on the other hand), dropped the 90-something pound bride! LOL.

And while I was doing photos with the Bride & Groom, Steve Hoffmann helped photographed these beautiful wedding details.

Santa Monica Pier Engagement Photography | Eileen & Chris

They weren’t kidding when they said, “the rain follows us everywhere.” It rained on their first date. It rained when Chris proposed. And it rained the morning of their engagement session in Santa Monica. But, you know what they say about rain. It only means lots of luck and happiness!! And indeed!! Rain or shine, Eileen and Chris are always smiling and laughing together!! And that’s all that matters!!

Eileen and Chris are such a fun couple to be around. We are so excited to work with them and be a part of their wedding (tomorrow) at the beautiful Vibiana in Los Angeles.

What brave souls they are!! Bombs-Away….

It cleared up just in time for their engagement session and the clouds made for an awesome backdrop.

The water was freezing!! But Eileen and Chris were troopers the entire time!

We did get the beautiful sunset that we had hoped for! Yay!!

After doing their engagement photography at Santa Monica Pier, we headed over to Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. And since it was during Christmas (that we did their engagement session), there were twinkling lights all around. And a big gorgeous Christmas Tree!!

Disneyland Engagement Photography — “Happiest Place on Earth” | Juli & Will

Doing engagement photography at Disneyland is always a treat for us!! I swear I’m like a kid again every time I set foot in at the Happiest Place on Earth. Can we ride this? Can we eat that? And can we do photos here… and there… and there…. and THERE!! Hahaaha. It’s definitely my playground!! And just FYI – CornDog Castle is a MUST!!

It was so much fun hanging out with Juli and Will. These two love birds met over 3 years ago (over the dating website, eHarmony) and can’t wait to tie the knot at the beautiful Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. They were both drawn to each other’s down-to-earth and adventurous personality. On their first date, over a pitcher of Sangria, they found out they had more in common than eHarmony had told them. Finding an excuse to see each other again (and since their college football teams were playing the next day), they made a friendly wager that whomever’s team lost had to plan the next date. Well… the WSU Cougars lost to the UCLA Bruins, Juli had to plan date #2. She signed them up for the LA Amazing Race, a 6 hour scavenger hung around the entire city!! Not only did “Team Legendary” have a blast running around the city together drenched in sweat and solving clues, but they actually came in 3rd place!! WOW!! Not bad teamwork for a mere 2nd date right??

Universal City Hilton Wedding Photography | Jeanette & Tommy

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!! And a BIG Congrats to those who got engaged today!! Yay!! Now call me up! =D

Although we are already two and half months into the New Year, please forgive me for still blogging shoots from 2012. I still have tons of fun-filled & gorgeous weddings (as well as cute & romantic engagement sessions) to share. I can’t think of a better way to end year 2012 than with Jeanette and Tommy’s beautiful wedding at the Universal City Hilton. Jeanette and I first met at Cindy & Chris’ wedding at the Hilton, San Gabriel. [Thank you Cindy & Chris for trusting and referring us.] And although we chatted for a bit (about Lee’s Sandwich and Coffee… haha), I didn’t really get a chance to get to know her until we spoke on the phone and met over coffee. We bonded right away when talking about our mothers and having to coordinate an Asian-American wedding. Believe me… we could of written a book titled, “My Asian Mom”. Hahaha. Just kidding… I love you Mom!! (I know she’s reading this). =D

Jeanette and Tommy (who is a professional golfer from Thailand) are such beautiful, fun and charming people; and their wedding was nothing short of that!! And as if the holiday season was not warm enough, here you have a once in a lifetime celebration that brings friends and family closer together. Congratulations again Jeanette and Tommy!! Thank you for having Steven and I there as your photographers!! And thank you Steven Tran for assisting me with the day!

Santa Monica and Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Photography | Clarissa & Kevin

Clarissa and Kevin are just too darn cute together!! I love that they are always smiling and laughing with each other; not hard to see that they absolutely adore each other!! Clarissa and Kevin met while going to UCLA! In fact… Clarissa was a student in a class that Kevin was an aide for. After a few class sessions, Clarissa finds herself staying after class often with “questions.” And as for Kevin, he didn’t seem to mind “tutoring” Clarissa at all. One study date after another, they formed a friendship that lead to love!! We are so excited to do photo and video for their upcoming wedding at the beautiful Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.

We did their engagement session on Santa Monica Pier and ended in Downtown Los Angeles. It was quite a cold and gloomy day, but we still had lots of fun eating ice-cream and playing games!! It’s so wonderful to see such pure and genuine love!

Azusa Canyon, Wilderness Engagement Photography | Valerie & Jabra

Meant to be? Definitely!! A relationship that started as an elementary school crush turned into middle school puppy love, that blossomed into a beautiful friendship and now… ending in inseparable love!! Meet Valerie and Jabra! I love that their sheer energy and love for each other shows through in every photograph.

Valerie’s aunt (who is super sweet) owns a cute little cabin at the bottom of Azusa Canyon where we did their engagement photos. It had been raining continuously for a few days and we thought we might have to reschedule their engagement session. Luckily, it cleared up into a beautiful day and we had the perfect window to photograph their engagement session before the storm clouds came in again. You gotta check out the storm clouds in some of the photos (towards the end)!! It’s crazy awesome!! =)

I love that they are always smiling!!

During our meeting, Jabra told me that for their engagement session, he wanted to include the other love of his life (too)… his 1969 Chevelle!! Isn’t she a beauty??

Hilton, San Gabriel Wedding Photography | Cindy & Chris

You know there are some people you’ve just met for the first time but it just feels like you’ve known them for years? Well… that’s what it was like when we first met Cindy and Chris. We met up at a local restaurant for sliders and beer. We bonded over our love for food & traveling (and oh yeah… wedding planning/photography as well). I recall that Cindy was the first person to introduce me to Pinterest! Thanks Cindy! I’m now an addict!! Haha. I just really love that the four of us connected instantly. Cindy and Chris are a sweet, sincere, down to earth kinda couple whom we are so happy to now have as friends.

One of the best parts of my job is meeting wonderful couples (keeping in touch with them), and watching their beautiful family grow. Congratulations Cindy and Chris!! Gavin and I are very excited for them as they are expecting a baby girl this summer!! Can’t wait till maternity photos!! =)

We did their first look at the Hilton in San Gabriel.

From the San Gabriel Hilton, we went over to Pasadena City Hall for wedding photos.

It always touches my heart when my brides carry a picture of a love one (who is there in spirit) on their bouquet.

It was a windy day!! ;) Love this picture!!

Oh yeah… and remember Gangnam Style when it first came out… in late August 2012? Cindy and Chris’s wedding was the FIRST wedding (that we photographed) to do Gangnam Style poses. At first, I was like… “what on earth is going on??” Then, Gavin showed me the video (and I felt really silly). I’m obviously not up-to-date with what’s in. LOL

Their bridal party was such a fun group to be around. I had the pleasure of meeting the Mayor of Diamond Bar, Ling Ling Chang (who was also in the bridal party).

And now… we’re back at Hilton, San Gabriel where friends and family gathered to witness their union.

All the beautiful flower arrangements were put together by the talented Linda Vuong (of LV Floral Events).

The day came together perfectly thanks to Ms. Queenie Lam and her team. Thank you Queenie for all your help.

Believe or not, but our lovely bride Cindy made most of the goodies herself!! Right?? How do you have time?? But she’s just that awesome!! Guess where I was hanging out most of the night?? hehe

It’s official!! They tied the knot!! Get it… get it?? LOL…

Party LA Photobooth was a big hit!! We’ve worked with Kevin and Doris of Party LA Photobooth many times and they are super awesome! I love all the props they have and the quality of their prints.

And let the dancing begin!!

Cindy and Chris did a lantern release at the end of the night. I thought it was very special and meaningful for a couple to start their lives together by making a wish. Here, Cindy and Chris made a wish, sealed it with a kiss and send it off on it’s merry way!! Congratulations to Cindy and Chris! We wish you both nothing but the best!!

Pasadena Ambassador Mansions & Gardens Wedding Photography | Annie & Jon

Happy 2013 everyone!! May 2013 bring you lots of love & joy, health & prosperity and laughter all year long! Gavin and I are so excited to see what 2013 has in store for us. We very much look forward to working with all our wonderful couples and to photograph at all the gorgeous venues.

Let’s kick off 2013 with Annie & Jon’s beautiful wedding at the Pasadena Ambassador Mansions and Gardens. Annie and Jon first met each other at the happiest place on earth… Vegas!! =) While waiting for their mutual friends to complete their hotel check in, Annie couldn’t help but to notice the “nerd” that was sitting next to her, texting away on his phone. Munching on a bag of hot Cheetos, she politely asked, “want one?” ”No, thank you”, Jon replied without looking up from his phone. Rude… she thought! BUT out of the corner of his eye, Jon was secretly checking her out. =) Their conversations during the entire Vegas weekend somehow always involved nerdy mathematically equations (Annie from Yale and Jon from Stanford) and their love for running. With mathematically equations involved, how could they walk away without numbers… phone numbers that is!! =) And THAT marks the beginning of beautiful relationship!!

Like I had mentioned in their engagement session (at the LA Arboretum), there is something so magnetic about this couple!! It’s definitely the way their eyes light up when they look at each other… AND the endless, contagious smiles on their faces!! Thank you Annie and Jon for such a wonderful time, we enjoyed every second of it!!

As the year comes to a close and we say farewell to 2012, I’d like to take a stroll down memory lane to relive all the beautiful weddings from 2012. What an awesome year it has been for us!! This year was the first (full) year where we’ve introduced wedding videography as part of our wedding packages and couldn’t be happier!! Marvimon House Wedding Photography

Gavin and I recently had the pleasure of working again the beautiful Marvimon House in Los Angeles. This hidden gem was originally built in 1924 (by an Italian car racer) as one of Los Angeles’s first automobile show rooms. And now, the Marvimon House provides an urban and rustic feel for couples who wants a modern, green and eco-friendly wedding venue!!

LA Union Station & Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Photography | Jamie & Christian

Doing an engagement photography session at the Los Angeles Union Station is always a treat!! I was super excited when Jamie and Christian told me they wanted a vintage, roaring 1920′s kinda-look!! I’m always up for experimenting with new ideas and absolutely love it when my couples have a unique look that they’re aiming for. I thought they pulled it off really well… don’t you think?! If you asked me… I would never have guessed that she’s a grade school teacher and he’s a sales consultant. From vintage attires to hair-do and jewelry, Jamie and Christian fit perfectly with the beautiful historic architecture of the LA Union Station. I swear it was too easy for me to photograph them!!

Since their wedding at Castle Green in Pasadena next year is also a vintage 1920′s theme, they decided to use their engagement photos as Save-the-Date magnets!! They were so thoughtful to send me one as well.

There is something about this picture that I am absolutely in love with.

Cabrillo Plaza Marina Wedding Photography | Jasmine & Marc

The internet… I absolutely LOVE it!! And I’m sure Jasmine and Marc would definitely agree to that. They met 8 years ago, the old fashion way… on MySpace (of course)! That’s right… we all remember MySpace right? =) It was pretty random that Marc messaged Jasmine (just to say hi and commented on how beautiful she is.) Their first conversation was just the start of a new friendship that either of them had expected. A friendship that blossomed into an inseparable love and now ending in happily ever after!!

We had a great time with Jasmine and Marc during their downtown Los Angeles Engagement Photography session and are incredibly honored to be a part of their BIG day!! These two love birds are like two peas in a pod. Jasmine – a mellow and relaxed bride, excited than ever to party it up with her family and closest friends. Marc – an easy going and goofy groom that is head-over-heels in love with his beautiful bride and is excited for forever!! Their day was filled with laughter, and a whole lot of love and care from family and friends!!

What better place to do pictures of a very close group of friends than at the Korean Friendship Bell. I love that the red on the bridesmaids dresses “pop” against the blue sky.

It was such a lovely day to do wedding pictures in Palos Verdes!!

LOL!! I love the look on their faces when they thought the cake was gonna fall.

Their wedding ceremony and reception was held at The Plaza at Cabrillo Marina, in San Pedro. It had an awesome waterfront view that we took advantage of during sunset.

Marc (like Gavin) is really into Brazilian Ju-Jit-Su. This picture holds close to Marc’s heart because the bracelets represents the color belts. White belt for where he was, Blue belt for where he is, and the Black belt for where he will be. Pretty meaningful if you ask me.

Rancho Las Lomas Wedding Photography | Michele & Kevin

I am so thrilled to have one of the most popular wedding blogs, Style Me Pretty feature Michele and Kevin’s Rancho Las Lomas Wedding. I’ve been dying to share this beautiful wedding with everyone!! Michele and Kevin planned their wedding in about 4 month!! Can you believe it?? All the personal details that you see (i.e. table numbers, flower arrangements, cupcakes, etc.) were all do it yourself (DIY) projects by the lovely bride and her amazingly talented family and friends.

A wedding is a joyous occasion where family and friends join in celebrating the couple and making their dream wedding a reality. With their engagement being a mere 4 months, their amazing family and friends helped put personal touches to all the wedding details and making it even more special. Michele’s dad helped construct all the place card holders, the moms along with friends spent 8 hours baking all the cupcakes, and the bridesmaids assembled all the bouquets and floral arrangements!! Can I get a “WOW”!!

And what a great choice of venue!! Rancho Las Lomas has beautiful garden with citrus trees scattered throughout… and not to mention the exotic wildlife there!! There’s nothing like a llama staring at you (from a distance) when using the bathroom!! Hahahaa… I kid you not!! This venue is awesome!!

It was an absolute joy to work with the talented Evelynn (of Events by Evelynn) and her team. Thank you ladies for an awesome flawless wedding day! Can’t wait to work with you gals again in the near future!!

Michele is all smiles and giggles throughout her day!! From the meeting, to the engagement session at the LA Arboretum, to the wedding day, I don’t believe I’ve seen her (or Kevin) NOT smile!!

I love, LOVE the red English telephone booth!! Pretty random, but AWESOMELY random!! =)

And check out the Ford!! A lot of photo take pictures in front of this barn (since the doors are usually closed), but we got to go inside. I love the rustic and abandon feel of it.

And just moments before the ceremony starts, Michele shared a very intimate and emotion moment with her parents. I teared up too!!

To add to the love and making the celebration more special, Michele’s brother officiated their wedding.

It’s really fun, personal, and thoughtful that each table number had a picture (of Michele & Kevin) at the corresponding age. Family and friends got a kick out of seeing their baby pictures (with diapers, teeth missing and all.)

Cupcakes baked with love!!

I always enjoy listening to toasts, especially the ones by the fathers!! I love all the embarrassing stories of the bride & groom growing up!!

As I sit here writing this blog article the night before Thanksgiving, I’m reflecting on the past year and the many things I am so thankful for in my life. I’m so grateful for having the honor of capturing many, many beautiful couples on their wedding day, as well as sharing the joy and warmth that a family portrait session has to offer. I mean… it doesn’t get any better than this!! I am absolutely blessed to have a career in doing what I love most, alongside with the one person I love most!! I’m thankful for all my amazing couples!! Thank you so much for all your love and support!! Gavin and I are where we are today because you all instilled your trust in us and our art. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Mission San Juan Capistrano Engagement Photography | My & Ray

He got down on one knee and she immediate knew what was gonna follow… the box with the bling and the question!! But to her surprise, Ray didn’t pull a box out from his pocket. Instead it was a check!! Haha. I thought it was quite unique and refreshing… don’t you think?! The surprise was obviously there since My had no idea he was even planning a proposal. And it’s pretty thoughtful that he wanted her to pick out the perfect ring!

My and Ray put a lot of thought into picking out where they wanted to do their engagement photos. We toyed with the idea of having their engagement pictures at the LA Arboretum and having a botanical & garden backdrop. Then, we thought of having a more rustic and “Western” background at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills. And as they were looking around, they fell in love with the texture and peacefulness of the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano. What a great choice of location!! Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of my favorite locations and is always a treat to visit. There are so many photo opps inside the Mission as well as around and nearby. I can honestly be there all day hanging out and photographing this beautiful couple! With their wedding (at the Vellano Country Club) rapidly approaching in January, I’m so excited and know it’s going to be a blast!!

I call this my “old Asian-couple” pose!! Haha

ARE YOU ALL READY TO MELT INTO A BIG PILE OF MUSH!?? I mean… this is some serious cuteness overload here! I can’t even begin to describe how much fun it was to hang out with the Rowens for their family portrait session at the Balboa Island fun zone. It was my very first time meeting this beautiful family and I was smitten with the girls (Taylor and Brooke) the second I saw them!! It’s unnatural how natural they are… the camera, and me, absolutely loves them!! How is it that these two are always so happy and smiling… and not to mention cute as all!?! And then I realized that they were mere reflections of their amazing parents!! I can tell that Laurie and Kyle are wonderful parents just by how they play and talk with the girls.

“A sister is a gift to the heart…” Taylor and Brooke are about 1.5 years apart; I admire their closeness and bond to each other (even at such a young age). I can see it already that they’ll be best friends, sharing clothes, make-up, along with all the crazy boy stories they’ll encounter growing up together!! Speaking of boys… uh oh!! Laurie and Kyle… I think you’ll have to lock them up till their late twenties. LOL.

They are so precious…

I swear I almost had a heart attack the first time I saw Kyle throw her!! She’s got some air!!

Silly girls… love them!!

Up, up, and away… so glad height is not an issue for my brother Steven. Well… Thank God height is not an issue… otherwise he’ll make a pretty bad fireman. Thank you Steven for coming and helping with the photos!

After some fun on the Ferris Wheel… we headed over to the Pier for some sunset photos!! What a gorgeous sunset that day!!

Walt Disney Concert Hall Wedding Photography | Mekela & Jason

If I could envision the best first dance ever, it would probably be along the lines of having a live performance by my favorite artist… singing my favorite song. Mekela, our lovely bride, got exactly just that! To everyone’s surprise, Jason somehow arranged for Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler to show up and sing Mekela’s favorite song, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” for their first dance!!! It sure was a treat for everyone!! Like any other girl that grew up listening to Aerosmith, I was star-struck and had to remind myself to take pictures (instead of jumping up and down like a dork). LOL.

I’ve been dying to share this wedding with everyone for the longest time, but I had to anxiously wait since it was pending for publication in California Wedding Day Magazine. Now that the Magazine has hit news-stands a couple weeks ago… it is my pleasure to share with everyone Mekela and Jason’s beautiful wedding at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Wedding Photography at the Walt Disney Concert Hall is always amazing because it is a marquee location in Downtown Los Angeles. Mekela and Jason are a fun and laid-back couple who absolutely adores each other. After dating for 2 years, Jason popped the question during a Caribbean cruise. It also turned out that the proposal wasn’t the only surprise: Mekela also found that she was pregnant. How exciting is that!!! Mekela gave birth to an adorable baby boy on Easter Sunday. Exactly one year later (on Easter Sunday), Mekela and Jason decided to tie the knot and have their two most important memories be forever entwined. Isn’t it so romantic and thoughtful?!?!!!

A huge thank you to DeNeitra Vincent of Savvy-Events for making this day exceptional! Everything flowed smoothly and flawlessly!! DeNeitra and her team are super professional and nothing but a joy to work with. I can’t wait to work with them again in the near future.

Being in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the Ritz Carlton is definitely a popular hotel for brides to get ready in. Check out the view from Mekela’s room.

I love the braids in their hair.

I think getting into the dress is one of the most exciting parts of the day!! This is when everything begins to settle in and the “Oh my God it’s really happening” comes to mind. This is also where a lot of crying begins… tears of joy that is!!

Instead of doing a first look with the Groom, Mekela did a first look with her dad. I thought was very sweet and thoughtful. There was not a dry eye in the room when Mekela’s dad started crying when he saw his beautiful daughter in a wedding dress.

Mekela also had a present for her dad… a hand’kerchief that reads: ”To the first man I ever loved…” At this point, the photographer, that would be me, started tearing up too!!

Their Easter-inspired wedding was decorated with spring colors mixed with a soft grey, to perfectly coordinate with the architecture of the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

I love that all the leis were freshly flown in from Hawaii.

At the end of the aisle, our strapping Groom Jason strikes a pose (or two) for the camera. LOL

Mekela’s family awaits as she walks down the aisle. By the way, look closely and tell me if you see someone else who is famous!! That’s right… Pauly Shore is a good friend of Jason and is one of the groomsmen in the bridal party.

I absolutely LOVE photographing weddings!! There are so many good vibes and happiness to absorb from all the love that’s around me. I am such a baby… I tend to tear up easily, especially when the bride or groom starts to cry.

Wedding Photography at the Walt Disney Concert Hall is definitely toooo easy!! It’s such a beautiful, beautiful wedding venue!!

Hawaiian Native Mekela blended elements from her culture with western traditions with the exchanging of the leis as well as rings.

And this is their adorable son, Weston!! Happy Birthday Weston!!

We were all in for a special treat the entire evening! Jason and Mekela had performance all night long. From Bollywood dancers to booty dancer!! LOL

I’ll let you have one guess at what song was playing!! Hint hint: ”I like big butts and I can not lie. You other brothers can’t deny. That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist and a round thing in your face, you get sprung…”

It was definitely a fun and memorable wedding reception!! I love the photo-booth pictures!

Mekela and Jason also had a grand exit with sparklers!!

Redondo Beach Historic Library Wedding Photography | Tenn & Avi

She ran in late to a medical convention holding a Starbucks coffee in her hand. Everyone noticed her radiant appearance and her newly stained white blouse as well. While she bashfully finds her seat, she made a lasting first impression with one particular person. Avi couldn’t help but to steal glances at Tenn, but shyly looking away once her eyes meets his. After the medical conference was over, the coffee stained white blouse was a perfect ice-breaker for them. And this is how their love story began…

Meet Tennessee and Avinash… one of our sweet, caring and laid back couples. They had their wedding on a beautiful summer day (yeah I know… i’m late blogging it again) at the Redondo Beach Historic Library. I’ve been to Redondo Beach many, many times but it’s our first time having the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the Redondo Beach Historic Library.

Ambassador Mansion, Pasadena Wedding Photography | Kim & Scott

Kimberlee and Scott traveled all the way from Ohio to have their wedding here in Pasadena (so that family and friends can share their joyous day). I remember that Kim and I played phone tag with each other (more than a few times) so when we finally got a chance to talk, it was like old friends catching up. Since they were both in Ohio, all our correspondence were via phone calls and email. I was so excited to finally meet with them for the first time on their wedding day!! It was like going on a first date with someone you’ve been talking to for 6 months. I was super excited to meet them!!

We showed up at the Westin Hotel, Pasadena where Kim was getting ready in the morning. She was nothing but smiles and giggles! I’m not kidding when I say there isn’t a second of the day where Kim was not smiling!! See for yourself…

After their ceremony at the Unitarian Neighborhood Church, we headed out to the Ambassador Mansions and Gardens for the bride & groom wedding photos.

And on our way to their banquet reception, we stopped by old Chinatown for a quickie session.

Kimberlee’s family folded her 1000 origami cranes to wish her and Scott a lifetime of happiness and prosperity.

Kim and Scott decided to have a family style dinner at Ocean Seafood Restaurant. It was pretty intimate in that everyone sat down to eat (the 11 course meal) and chatted among each other as the bride and groom made their way to personally visit each guests at each table.

Check out all these yummy dishes!! They were so sweet to reserve two seats for us at their guest table as well. =)

After the cake-cutting (around 8:30pm), Kim and Scott sneaked away from the reception and went to LAX to catch their red-eye flight to Australia!!

Laguna Beach Engagement Photography | Alyssa & Alex

This passed weekend, our photo-video team was at the beautiful Bella Collina (Towne & Golf), San Clemente for Alyssa and Alex’s wedding. We can’t wait to share those pictures with you… but first you gotta check out their Laguna Beach engagement photography.

Alyssa and Alex met each other on a random night at a friend of a friend’s birthday party. They quickly noticed each other but simply exchanged a quick “hey, nice to meet you…” and didn’t think much of it due to Alyssa’s upcoming trip to China and Alex’s continuous surfing travels. Two months passed by and they met again at the same friend’s house. This time… Alyssa and Alex couldn’t take their eyes off each other and the rest was history!!

It was a beautiful day for an engagement session in Laguna Beach. We had beautiful clouds and a gorgeous sunset in Laguna Beach.

Los Angeles Engagement Photography | Rachel & Liam

We first met Rachel and Liam at Jessica and Dan’s wedding at The Vineyards in Semi Valley where Rachel (who is Jess’ sister) was the Maid of Honor. It’s always such a compliment when friends and family from a previous wedding contacts us. Rachel and Liam are high-school sweet hearts that not only share a passion for soccer and for traveling the world, but more importantly, they share a passionate love for each other. And we all share a love for food and UCLA! Rachel recently graduated culinary school and appreciates the art of cooking and yummy food. Liam is getting his MBA at UCLA and can relate to Gavin’s Bruin stories.

I absolutely LOVE how Rachel and Liam’s engagement session came out. There are so many cute moment between them that it was hard for me to select images for the blog. There are so many that are my favorites!! Enjoy…

They were suppose to be Bears that were stuck in a cage together. They swear they are so cute together!! I love their passion and playfulness with each other!

Hmmmm… you may wonder what’s going on here. Well… that’s a really good question because I don’t know myself. We’ll have to ask Liam and get back to you.

The attack of the Mannequins!!

So! From all these images… you may think, “WOW… Judy and Gavin are so cool!! =) They carry mannequins around with them as props for engagement sessions!!” LOL That’s only partially true. The being cool part is true, but as for the mannequins, we were just lucky to stubble upon the set the Haunted Hay Ride at the old LA Zoo (which by the way looks pretty scary and I can’t wait to go see myself.)

And FYI – even mannequins like to photo-bomb!!

After the old LA Zoo at Griffith Park, we got back to their home studio just in time for sunset and night pictures on the rooftop. Their building has a gorgeous view of downtown Los Angeles and we were lucky to have rooftop access. It was kinda scary being on the 38th floor (a helipad) looking straight down. It took me a while before I got anywhere near the edge but it was sooooooo worth the view. =)

Pacific Palms Wedding Photography | Doris & Jason

I get goosebumps when I hear stories like their’s!! Doris and Jason — high school sweethearts that have been together for a whole decade… [finally tying the knot and saying "I do"]. Gavin and I had a great time with them during their engagement session at the LA Arboretum. Their wedding day started bright and early with a traditional Chinese Tea ceremony followed by a modern Western wedding at Pacific Palms in the afternoon. It was nothing short of awesome and we are so happy to take part in their lovely day!!

For those who are not familiar with a traditional Chinese/Vietnamese Wedding ceremony; it starts off with the Groom (and his family) coming over to the Bride’s house with elaborately decorated trays of gifts. The gifts represents the wealth that the groom’s family will bring to the bride’s family. BUT before they can enter the bride’s house, they are stopped by the lovely bridesmaids for some fun and light-hearted door games. The groom and his groomsmen have to pass each test (and prove his love) as well as the giving of money in a red envelope (lucky money) before he can even see his bride. Small price for a wife wouldn’t you say? =)

This is when one of the groomsman had to eat red-hot chilly peppers (and not allowed to drink water).

Then, the best-man had the hair on his leg waxed by the groom!!! ”What?? Who was the devil that thought of this??” LOL

The Avengers!!

Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Photography | Gunes & Alton

I am extremely flattered that Gunes loves our work so much that she booked us to photograph her engagement session in Downtown Los Angeles BEFORE Alton even proposed to her!! =) Gunes could sense that the wedding proposal was coming soon so she booked us over in a month in advance to make sure that we had a date available for their session. That’s got to be one of the greatest compliments for a us!!Gunes is from Turkey and met Alton when she was studying as an international student here in the States. Their love for each other is real and raw, and that only grew fonder with distance. After finishing her studies, Gunes went back to Turkey for a while and from there knew instantly that she can’t be without Alton. They are super excited for their wedding in Turkey next July, but first they wanted to celebrate with an engagement session in the beautiful downtown Los Angeles. Both Gunes and Alton love the city life and wanted some night photography in Downtown LA.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall in the summer has beautiful blossoms!! And the lighting there… always perfect due to the Concert Hall’s reflective surfaces!! I love doing engagement photography (and wedding photography) at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Gunes told me that in Turkish culture, the bride and groom’s wedding rings are tied together by a red ribbon symbolizing that they will forever be bound together.

This is my second time having the pleasure of hanging out with the Felds and doing their family portrait session at their home in Irvine. My… they grow up so fast!! Remember Mia and Tova from their last year’s Irvine family portrait session? Well… now they are a year older, cuter, faster, more energetic… and did I mentioned faster?? LOL!! Thank God I’m in the best shape of my life to keep up them. Okay, okay… who am I trying to fool? I had candy to bribe them to listen to me. =)

This year, I love that Samantha dressed the girls up in cute little dresses and had bows in their hair. Tova doesn’t really say much yet, and Mia is very smart and articulate. She was excited to see me, just as I was to see her! I can’t believe she still remembers me from last year. When I first got into their home, Mia took me by the hand and quickly became my little best friend. She told me about her school day, showed me her room and her super girl Halloween costume. Their cuteness completely melted my heart~!!
